In this episode, Camille starts by sharing what inspired her to become a mental performance consultant. She then discusses the most common mental performance challenges in the profession.

The first mental performance skill that Camille speaks about is energy management. The best athletes use mental skills and strategies to manage and optimize their mental and physical energy. Camille discusses mindset strategies to help athletes avoid and deal with burnout.

The second mental performance skill that Camille speaks about is self-talk. Being aware of your self-talk during and after training and competition is essential for creating and maintaining optimal performance. Camille explains the different ways someone can use self-talk positively to regulate their thoughts and emotions to help reduce stress and anxiety.

The third mental performance skill that Camille speaks about is emotional control. It is essential to identify the mental breakdowns that cause you to lose emotional control during your athletic performance in order to learn how to gain emotional control and heighten your overall performance. Camille explains how athletes can overcome some of these mental breakdowns by learning how to identify, regroup, and refocus emotional control.

The fourth mental performance skill that Camille speaks about is visualization. It involves creating or re-creating an athletic experience in your mind using all five senses for the purpose of enhancing your athletic performance. Camille explains how and when in training and competition can an athlete mentally rehearse how they see themselves when performing the sport.

The last mental performance skill that Camille speaks about is emotional negative thinking. It is important for athletes to be aware of their thinking patterns during training and competition in order to maximize their overall athletic performance.
